HOPE BEGUINE

Little remains of what was once the convent now, only the chapel featuring a granite lintel doorway and a shield with the arms of the patrons of the convent.

This beguine was founded in 1558 by San Pedro de Alcántara, although its final location here was in 1594. There is evidence to say that in 1701 was 18 nuns and 3 colleagues. I was secularized after being reamortization become home owners. Today is attached to the house of Bouillon de Mendoza, Marquis of Selva Alegre. In this church rest the remains of famous people like Luis de Mendoza Moscoso and Quintana, Count II of the Berrona as well as those of Count II of the Court, Knight of the Order of Santiago and perpetual ruler of Jerez.
